12 Days of Christmas: Gift #12

Our fun series of gift ideas has come to a close and for all you last minute-gifters out there, we’ve truly saved the best for last. At least I think so.

Let me start by saying that I love finding the perfect gifts for families and friends. We all deserve to be spoiled every now and again, but what about those who are without basic necessities at Christmas? Children waiting and hoping for a sponsor so that they can start school? Whether you gift ten or twenty dollars to these deserving charities, I hope you know it is appreciated and I think someone will feel pretty special if the gift was in their name.

Maybe you already give to certain charities, but the below list are a few of my worthy favorites:

#1: Compassion International

sandra

This organization is all about children. I support the cutest little boy in Uganda. He’s going to school because of my help!

#2: India Partners

gift-catalog

This organization helps individuals of all ages in India break free of poverty. It also helps rescue young women and girls from sex trafficking.

#3: Kiva

help

This nonprofit helps people living in poverty start up their own business. For just $25 bucks you can help them. Once their business is starting, the money will be credited back to you with the option of passing it again to help someone else. How cool is that?!

One week till Christmas now! I hope you all can watch Christmas movies, be cosy and keep track of what matters.

12 Days of Christmas: #11

flowersIf any of you (like me!) still have Christmas shopping to do, idea number eleven is here to save you! Until the day I have my own garden, fresh flowers are always a welcome treat in my home and it would be such a simple and thoughtful Christmas gift to give toanyone from your BFF to Grandmother. It’s still not too late to have fresh flowers delivered in time for Christmas and Flowers Online, ProFlowers, and  InterFlora are even offering last-minute Christmas specials.

One week till Christmas! Our final (and my personal favorite) gift will be posted this afternoon. X

12 Days of Christmas: Gift #10

Our Christmas gift series is drawing to a close, but we still have a few ideas in mind we think you will enjoy. Gift idea #10 is giving a homemade treat and over the years, bringing a basket of homemade goodies to friends and family has often been my go-to. A tin of Christmas cookies has also become a gift I especially love to receive—it takes up no room in our tiny apartment and doesn’t last for long!

Why not consider one of these delicious gifts?

Chocolate chip cookies in a jar (just add the butter and eggs!)

brittleWhy not give hazelnut pecan almond brittle? The recipe seems so easy.

pretzelAlmond bark pretzels are even easier and a treat I make every single Christmas.

Whatever holiday treat you decide to give, get creative with your wrapping! These treat bags are darling, but you can use tissue paper, burlap and ribbon to make your own wrapping. Even a simple bow over a homemade loaf of bread is festive and enticing.

One week till Christmas Eve!

12 Days of Christmas: Gift #8

No matter where you call home, there will be days when the temperature drops and you might need a little extra something to stay warm. We’ve already recommended warm cowl-knit scarves, rustic home accents along with novels we love for a cosy day at home, but what about the slippers?

I practically live in my Sperry slippers when at home and slippers are so much easier to slip on and off than a big sweater. They’re also an ideal gift for anyone on your list from Grandpa to your baby sisters to your bff, and these picks are sure to please:

Yes I’m partial because these slippers are locally made right here in Minnesota, but Minnetonka Moccasins are truly the best. More reasonable than Uggs and just as warm, MM makes slippers for people of all ages. I’m especially loving this pair.
