Swimsuit Love: the Return of the One Piece

Maybe I’m just missing the French Riviera or feeling the Minnesota cold all too acutely, but lately, all I want to do is pack a picnic,  grab a Sophie Kinsella, and head to a beach. There are few things in life as wonderful as a sun-bathed day on the sand, and with the variety and beauty of 2012 swimsuits, you have all the more reason to GO!

What I’m loving about 2012 swimsuit trends is the fact that there is a flattering suit for all body types in every style–from modern and classic to retro and glam. I’m also loving the return of the ONE PIECE! And along with it, the changing conceptions of one piece suits. Designers are remembering that Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor and Gene Tierney all wowed in classic one pieces, and  looked anything but motherly in the process. While bikinis are cute, fun and sometimes plain necessary to achieve the best tan, there is something more elegant and sweet about the one piece, especially with the myriad styles available. So, without further ado: my favorite swimsuit finds (thus far!):

#1: Garden Floral Ruched Bandeau from J.Crew

Gorgeous print? Check. Flattering cut? Check. Bright colors? Check. This one piece stunner from J.Crew hits all the right notes: it’s fun and vintage-y. I really, really want this suit.
