If you’re like me and hadn’t heard about illustrator Samantha Hahn until her book “Well Read Women: Portraits of Fiction’s Most Beloved Heroines” hit the shelves, we’ve all been missing out. Hahn’s wok is delicate and feminine and her book, a collection of 50 watercolor portraits, is captivating.
Reading, in my mind, is innately visual and Hahn’s portraits of Jane Eyre, Anna Karenina, Ophelia—characters so dear to my heart—truly bring these women off the page.
With Christmas here before we know it, this would make the ideal gift for any book lover (hint, hint Brady!) and what a perfect way to attract young readers to literary classics.
